Our return policy is on hold, save for extenuating circumstances*, given the incredibly high costs we're inflicted with to clear returns across the Canadian border.: All major carriers charge a fee to process our packages back across the Canadian border. For instance, UPS' 'Entry Prep Fee' is a minimum of $30 per order, irrespective of item value. As a small business, we simply can't absorb these fees.
Please contact us if you are determined to make a return/exchange. Note that all fees associated with the return as assessed and invoiced by the carrier will be deducted from your refund. Processing time of the return is subject to our receipt of the import fee invoice being provided by the carrier.

The import of reindeer hides is regulated by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. Any wildlife not of North American origin requires a Designated Port Exception Permit (DPEP) for clearance if entering the USA at a non-designated port.
We are committed to ensuring the seamless delivery of your hide and will always ship your reindeer hide via 3-day air service with UPS (so in enters USA at Designated Port and our customers don't need any additional paperwork).
Due to the higher shipping costs associated with this premium service, we are unable to offer free shipping for reindeer hides.

Reindeer hide care?
Given the hollow nature of the hairs, reindeer hides are best kept out of high use and high traffic areas to prevent shedding. They also should not be placed in the front of a fire or high heat source since extreme heat or drying of the hide will cause the fur to shed and moult. Vacuum the hide but use a brush accessory and do be gentle with it. A shake outside is recommended.
Are you hides ethically sourced?
Black Sheep (White Light) hold ourselves to a high ethical
standard in sourcing our animal products. Most crucially: no animal is
killed primarily for our products.
All of the hides that we sell are
bi-products of the meat industry, thus maximizing the utility of each animal
while reducing the potential waste associated with this primary usage.
The reindeer hides are raised by the indigenous Lappish
peoples of Finland. This relationship dates back centuries, where the animals
have been farmed for their milk and meat, their hides used for clothing and
blankets to keep warm in the chilly northern winters.
Important considerations when purchasing natural hides?
When looking at reindeer hides it is important to remember that as this is a natural product which has not been treated with harsh chemicals and coatings (colors) vary between every hide. If you are purchasing a reindeer hide which is promised to be an exact standard colour and size, then this should act as a warning sign regarding the production. All our hides are ethically sourced and are a biproduct of the meat industry.
