BLACK SHEEP (white light) was founded after a lengthy search to source a sheepskin for an interior design project — the IKEA pelts just didn’t do it for me; these did.
I was attracted to these eclectic pelts and their large scale — top that off with the fact that these skins are stamped as 'Eco-Friendly' and I was sold.
I really enjoy getting-up each morning with one under my feet and thought others would too.
Keystone
Recently, we’ve expanded our line to offer other cultural keystone animal pelts. By the term 'keystone', we refer to an animal that has had significant utilitarian and cultural roles in the lives of the Indigenous people’s of a nation.
The animals that provide the products we offer are primarily used for food — utilizing their hides and pelts reduces the waste associated with this primary usage. We do not (not will we ever) offer any products that are not a bi-product of the meat industry.
These keystone animals include:
All of the hides and pelts we offer are bio-degradable.
Our Icelandic sheepskins meet strict EU directives concerning environmental preservation and protection. The tanning agents used are supplied by a company awarded full certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.
Our American Buffalo hides meet EPA standards and do not use chromium in the tanning process.
From a practical stand-point, you can comfortably throw a sheepskin or buffalo robe on the bed to beat the winter chill.
