Icelandic Sheepskins
Cleaning is easy and pretty straight-forward:
- Mix a wool specific detergent with warm water (as per detergents directions) to produce foam;
- Using the foam only (do not soak or submerge the sheepskin in water) work the foam over the pelt, pat dry with a clean cloth, shake and leave to dry;
- Comb when dry and you're all done.
Sami Reindeer
Spot clean as needed, vacuum occasionally with a brush attachment. Note that if vacuuming do not use any vacuum attachment that utilizes a 'beater bar' as it might damage the brittle hair of the reindeer hide.
Brazilian Cowhides
Spot clean as needed, vacuum occasionally with a brush attachment.
If your cowhide starts to roll-up on the ends, follow these steps:
- Dampen the top and underside of the problem area with water from a spray mist bottle;
- Place a towel or rag underneath the hide to protect your floor;
- Place a towel or rag on top of the hide to protect the object you will be using as a weight;
- Place a heavy, flat object such as a stack of hardcover books over the top towel and leave overnight.
North American Buffalo Hides
Spot clean as needed, vacuum occasionally with a brush attachment.
